Don't waste your money.



I bought this as a replacement for my Plantronics voyager 510, i picked it up in a VZW store and it was just too much of a hassle to return it so i decided to to just use it with my xbox 360 seeing as how my other headset for that broke. i haven't had any complaints about how i sound as far as that is concerned but when i had it paired with my phone (LG VX10000 Voyager) i got nothing but complaints from people about how they couldn't hear me or if they could hear me the sound was choppy as if "it was leaving out bits and pieces every few words" as one of my friends described it.

Although this bluetooth ear piece is gorgeous, has great sound, and is very professional looking- it is LACKING a multi-directional ear hook.



(BAD) You can ONLY wear this bluetooth piece on your right ear- you cannot adjust the size, shape, or direction of the earpiece.



(FAIR) The earpiece is lightweight and comfortable to wear for long conversations, as long as you can figure out how to wear it. The good thing is that it fits a small woman's ear reasonably well, but you still cannot shape the earhook to fit perfectly.



(GOOD) There is an auto-command function for hands-free usage while driving. To access the auto-command menu you simply hold in the power button until you hear a single beep, the menu activates.



(GOOD) The volume key is a single button that cycles through your phone's sound levels. This earpieces has excellent sound quality in that I rarely have to turn the volume up at all- it's clear enough to well even on it's lowest setting.



(GOOD) The person on the other end sounds better when I use this bluetooth piece during a call than when I use my cell phone's ear piece. The caller on the other end claims I sound no different than I would if I were using any other phone's microphone.



(FAIR) The retail box contains limited instructions, the ear piece, and an AC Charging cord. The is no USB cord to charge with your computer, and there are no extra ear hooks.



(GOOD) There were no technical bugs or internal issues, which is a very good thing. It paired seamlessly with my cell phone and has very good range without excess static. The Power/Pairing button was easy to use, it charges really well and the volume switch is a single button that you press repeatedly to cycle through different volumes.



Overall, a functioning product, but the lack of a comfortable right/left ear hook is very disappointing.

The Plantronics Explorer 220 Bluetooth headset is cheap, light, and easy to pair with a cell phone. That's about it.



Unfortunately, there are a lot more negative things with this unit that keeps me from recommending it.



-it feels as cheap as it costs;

-the transmission is weak (sometimes the person on the other line cannot hear me, and vice versa),

-often times drops the bluetooth connection,

-there are unwanted noise (humming, clicking, etc.) through the earpiece

-the ear hook hurts my ear, no matter which side I use it

-sometimes it "accidentally" turns on when in my pocket (when the button gets slightly pressed, it turns on) and I run out of battery juice in the middle of a call



I've gone through three of these units from three different sources, and they all have the same problems. So it is not an issue of just getting a bad item at one time.



Overall, I cannot recommend it. I gave it two stars because I do not usually talk on the phone for more than a minute at a time, and this is sufficient half of the time.



I've resorted to an older bluetooth headset, the Motorola HS850 Bluetooth Headset (Color Sent Based on Availability. Comes in Black, Blue and Grey, or Silver)[Bulk Packaged]. I know when it is on/off when the microphone boom is out/in. The soft rubber ear hook is gentler to my sensitive ear, and I've never had a problem with poor signal or dropped connections.

A very mediocre headset. Cannot maintain a clear connection without being a couple inches near the phone. At longer distances, sound quality is filled with pops, and distortion, making it hard to listen to the person your calling. Personally, with all the issues with these headsets, it would be better to find a better deal on a higher end bluetooth headset.

I have an iPhone and wanted to have an option for getting rid of the wired headset mic + headphones. Even in a quiet room, the volume on mine does not get loud enough to be able to hear the other side very well, and the people on the other end of the line can not hear you either. It is literally unusable.



I have had other Plantronics in the past and been happy with them (until I lost, washed, or wore them out). Spend more money and get a better model.

The Plantronics 220 just doesnt work. It pairs, it connects, and it gives you a static filled connection even when holding the phone in your hand more than two feet away. Just garbage. The plantonics Voyager 510 - now THATS a headset-- can leave a phone thirty feet away and it goes through two walls in that distance. The 220- garbage. Also, beware buying so called Motorola bluetooth earpieces on a 'bay auction site. They are mostly counterfeit and work just as poorly as a real Plantronics 220.

This is a big improvement over my previous (much more expensive) Jabra headset, which had lots of bells and whistles, but poor sound, wouldn't stay in my ear, and was difficult to pair with the phone.

First off, I'm not a fan of BT headsets but I got this one for free so figured I'd try it out. If you don't have the instructions on putting it in discovery mode to pair with your phone, check out plantronics website for a quick walk-through. So after getting it paired to my LG VX9100, I tried fitting it on my ear. Took a couple tries to find a somewhat working position. Really uncomfortable. I must have small ear canals because the speaker doesn't fit into my ear very well. I can hear others fine, a little static once in awhile, but people on the other end of the call say they have a hard time hearing me. Yet, the headset can pick up background noise quite well (my roomie was vacuuming two rooms over and the caller on the other end could hear it clearly). Don't even bother using it in slightly breezy conditions. Sound also breaks up in the car. Best used if you are too lazy to hold the phone to your ear, but that's about it. Maybe if you're cooking and talking on the phone at the same time?

I picked up one of these for use in the car, and it has served faithfully. Once you overcome the Luddite urge to yell into it, it's quite comfortable in use. Our little car suffers from quite a lot of road noise, and this cancels it out.



Pros:

Solid construction, with a nice hinge for left-right switching.

Molded earpiece channels sound

Plenty Loud

Because volume controls are forward-backward, rather than up-down, swapping from left to right doesn't give you an upside-down set of buttons. Nice!

Automatic pairing functioned well with my iPhone or my wife's Samsung Eternity.

Flashes when call is incoming, for those of us who don't wear these things constantly (how many seconds does it take to pick up, turn on, and mount?)



Cons:

The lack of intuitive buttons makes for a bit of a learning curve--my techno-phobic wife isn't thrilled about the press/hold list she needs to memorize. Could be a positive if you're looking to wear this thing constantly.

The car charging holster is a bit flimsy, and requires some maneuvering. Do note that it's not a contact charger, like your cordless home telephone. It's simply a molded piece which holds your charger and earpiece together, but you've got to fiddle to make it work.

At least with our model, the charger fits loosely; after too much wiggling (like, say, while driving in a car), the charger will come loose and the headset will need reconnected.



Overall, I'd really recommend this piece, especially for the price. Just be aware of what you're getting--a headset, with some throw-away accessories.

This is my first bluetooth device. I recently upgraded my phone (Pantech Matrix C740) and was looking forward to using bluetooth (especially while driving). I did a lot of research on Amazon and almost bought the more expensive one. But I decided on this one because of the reviews and this being my first bluetooth device. I love it. The sound is real clear (as long as your phone is on the same side of your body as the device). I will say, my wife was unloading groceries and left her phone in the house. When she was in the garage the sound broke up a little. She complained about not hearing well with the old phone and she was really impressed with how clear the sound was on the bluetooth. The cradel stays in my truck and works great when I need a place to store my bluetooth while I'm at work. At home, I can use the USB cord (also provided) to plug into my computer if I need to recharge while I'm home. A great buy!

I didn't want to spend a great deal of money for a quality product, and the price was just right. We had Motorolas before in the same price range, but the sound of the Plantronics is very clear and they are easy to use. We got them primarily to use while driving, but they are so much more comfortable than the old ones that we use them every day. Background noise is almost non-existant and we can speak in a normal voice to be heard; we don't have to shout. Thanks again for the detailed reviews; they are invaluable for making a decision.

fit is comfotable but interfering with my glasses. Im pretty sure though I would have this problem with most other head sets as well.

This headset works very well for the price. The range isn't tremendously good, generally it's best to remain within arm's length of whatever you've paired to, so it's a good choice for in the car. In the office, it may not be a good choice if you need to be walking around your workspace and have paired to a something fixed. However, within the limited range, the sound quality is quite good. The battery life is very good. I find that it's a comfortable headset, and I can wear it all day with no complaints.

This is the 2nd plantronics ear piece that I have owned. The only reason it's my 2nd one is because I lost my 1st one.

The price is right & it has a good length in battery charge.

After losing my 1st one, I ordered a different model with plantronics.

I forget the name of it. One that compares with the jawbone.

Anyway, it does not have a long battery charge, so therefore I decided to

order another plantronics 330. Now I use both...when one loses charge, then I switch over to the other one.

It's very easy to do this, as it pairs & connects quickly & easily.

I've bought my second and third one here at Amazon but the third purchase was a bummer. Seller indicated a new item but sent me a used one. The second one I bought though was a new one and i'm using it everyday. The reason I bought the second one was to replace the first one that I thought got lost. I found it a few weeks later so now I have two. The third one I bought is for my brother. This one just fits me nicely and I even forget its in my ear. I could wear it the whole day. I like this because it has a long time of use between charge. Only drawback is it gets weak signal and causes static if its not within line of sight with my phone but no big deal since they are both on the left side of my body-phone at my left chest pocket and bluetooth on my left ear.

I've tried other bluetooth solutions and none worked this well.



I have all the features I need....



* Double click the button you get redial

* Single click to answer a call

* Click and hold for 2 seconds to drop or ignore a call

* Volume up/down from the headset possible also.



All this happens from one button too - it's a multi-function button.



Great part is all my calls are of good quality.



Charge time is small also, the unit was fully charged within 20 mins. (don't know whats the standby/talk time yet as I only collected yesterday).



It's pretty comfortable to wear, the fitted ear piece (around your ear) can be turned around for left-ear/right-ear wearing.



All pros for me only con would be the bright blue led that flashes - makes you look like a cyborg :D other than that I love this unit!
