I have been happily using my Nokia BH-503 for several weeks now. However, the headset does have one significant shortcoming: it does not stay in place well because its "behind-the-neck" design fails to keep it up. I was forced to add an "over-the-head" nylon band to my BH-503 in order to support it. As an engineer, this was a simple modification, and anyone with reasonable manual skills might wish to consider this.



Before I improved support with an "over-the-head" strap, the BH-503 would hurt my ears and slide down. After one hour or so of wearing time, my ears would start to ache and I would have to stop listening. After adding the strap, the discomfort to my ears disappeared, and I can now wear my BH-503 for hours at a time without any discomfort.



On with the sound. Technically speaking, Nokia did a fine job on the BH-503. The controls are well-placed and provide excellent "clicky" feedback. The sound is quite good, especially considering it is coming over a wireless link. In fact, it is "near-audophile" quality. And, of course, being free of a cord just cannot be beat for comfort. The are, however, occasional short "drop-outs" when I turn my head, but I am used to them and they are few. By and large, the superb sound and ample volume of the BH-503 make for an excellent user experience. Synchronizing to my Bluetooth-enabled Nokia E90 was a snap, and all the BH-503 controls work as advertised. The BH-503 and E90 make a good pair and Nokia deserves five stars on technical execution here.



My only closing comment is to repeat that I found it necessary to modify my BH-503 headset by adding an "over-the-head" nylon band. I used black nylon strap material cut from a lightweight "Chihuahua-size" dog leash. With careful sewing using heavy carpet thread, the resulting band has a "factory-look" band that even Nokia would be proud of. The only reason I did not give the BH-503 a five star review overall was the fact that I was forced to add a strap to my BH-503 to help it stay in place over my ears and to eliminate the discomfort it caused by sliding off.

Audio on the FI Earphones is fair. They are at least as good as the earbuds that came with my iPod. The earclips are very fragile however and easily broken. Since iskin refuses to provide replacements after the 1 year warranty has expired you will be left with some rather expensive earphones that won't stay on your head.

For the price, I thought they would've provided better sounding speakers, but it definitely fell short. The sound provided a thin bass, and the treble was just too flat to impress me.



Less than a year of tolerance forced me to purchase another set of bluetooth headphones that had more oomph to satisfy a more pleasurable commute on foot or on community transportation and truly maximize my iPhone's audio worth.

Received them and they connected to laptop first time out. Didn't work with iPhone but I didn't expect them to. Both Windows Media Player and iTunes have to be restarted if you connect after starting players. but that is the PC or driver not the head phones.



Sound was good and range was about 25 feet with no problems. The only real problem I have with them is that they are not meant to be kept in a laptop bag or other place where they might get jostled around. After a month the cable that connects the two ear pieces broke and I now have an expensive ear piece with no stereo.



If they built these with a wrap around headset I would buy again but not while it is only the wire between the two. If you travel I don't recommend buying them unless you have a specific carrying case for them and are pretty religious about putting them away.

I hate having to deal with the tangle of headphone wires, so when I saw the F1 and TX+RX reviewed, I thought this is just what I needed. When using these, I listen mainly to voice (audiobooks) when using the F1s and the sound quality for this function is fine. For music, not so great. The sound is tolerable for non-critical listening (on the bus), but when compared directly with my Etymotic 6i's (same ballpark price for the package), the F1 sound is muddy and missing a lot of high-end. The earpieces don't quite fit my ears. There are two pairs of ear loops, the bigger ones are a little better, but the actual speaker part doesn't just couple well to my ear - especially when compared to the Etymotics. I have used these with Skype on my computer, and the callers tell me that the voice pick-up is very tinny compared to my usual bluetooth headset - Motorola H500. One annoying problem; every once in a while when the headphones connect with the TX, you get a full volume blast of white noise! Have to pull the TX out of the iPod and plug back in. Overall, kind of expensive, but I'll pay for the convenience.

Don't laugh because of my title. $96.57 its an outstanding price for these ones. The only bad point about this (that's why I didn't rate this with 5 stars) its that if you want to use them with your iPod (any iPod) you have to buy the TX+RX Transmitters. A crisp-clear sound with both iPod or mobile, Bluetooth wireless and with included controls.



Conclusion: You are really paying that big quantity for a product. You won't regret it.



EXTRA: If you decide to buy the transmitter for the iPod, you are also buying a great thing, because it combines a dock reciever with both normal pin input and output. Really WORTH the price and much cheaper (The TX+RX and the F1 headphones) than the iSkin Online Store.

 "Tries to do everything, but does none of them well." 2009-09-19

The Lubix UBHS-NC1 (and the LC1, which features a screen), tries to be an all-in-one wireless headset for music and phone calls. Unfortunately, the sound quality is sorely lacking, the mic is almost useless in busy places like fast food restaurants, and they barely fit.



Play any music with lots of treble or bass and you'll hear distortion in the speakers. I use these with a 30gb iPod Video and I had to go into the iPod's equalizer settings to find a setting that wouldn't sound like they were destroying the speakers. In fact, I had to turn the equalizer off to get decent sound. The headset features 4 audio modes, and each one has their own pros and cons (it's really up to individual taste), but none actually improved the quality of the sound.



The unit may have been better if they went with earbuds that went inside your ear, instead of just resting outside of it. While I do not prefer sticking something in my ear, this may have helped hold the unit in place; they fell out constantly. Yes, the box comes with different size padding for different sized ears, but none of them worked. Also, they take 2 hours to charge completely, which is an hour longer than even my phone.



As I mentioned earlier, the mic is useless in public. It's fine in a quiet environment like your home or office, but go outside into a restaurant, or a busy street, and I had callers tell me to call them back because all they heard was noise.



On the plus side, answering calls is easy: just press the appropriate button and you're all set. For those using it with multiple items, the multipoint bluetooth connections work well. I used it with the aforementioned iPod as well as a MyTouch 3G; neither device had trouble connecting. In quiet areas, the mic was fine; call quality both ways was good. If your music player or phone supports it, the unit can also control your tunes, giving you the ability to raise or lower volume, skip tracks, and play/pause.



Overall, if you're not looking for the best (or even mediocre) sound quality, and you're just looking for something to use in the office or at home, these aren't bad. Just don't buy them from Lubix directly as they charge $45+ for them, and they most certainly are not worth that much. If you're looking for something with better audio and mic quality, look elsewhere.

I purchased a pair of Lubix NC1 headphones for $20. If you look, you should be able to find a pair at the price you would like.



The Good:



I'm not a huge audiophile. I'm looking for something that will play my music and won't snag while walking around. I'm very happy with the sound. I hear my music clearly. There are 4 different volume "effects" that you can activate to change the tone depending on what you're listening to. I listen to both music and podcasts and I'll switch around to find one that allows better listening.



Pairing this with my iPhone was pretty simple, I just followed their instructions.



I've left myself voice message to test the microphone and I've talked to other people to have them tell me how well they can hear me. Like any Bluetooth headset, these are perfect when there isn't much noise around you. If you require noise-cancelling, you'll probably need to find something else.



Initially I had problems with the default eargels as they would fall out of my ears. Iput in the other pair of eargels that were included and they fit much better. I sent an email to their support when I lost an eargel not only would they send me a replacement pair of eargels for free, but they recommended looking into the Jabra eargels and even sent me an eBay store link to a person who sells the Jabra eargels at a low price. I work in a support industry and I can say that I was impressed with their response, especially having dealt with many other call centers which would either ignore you or send you a boilerplate "your are important to us, but we can't help you" response.



I ordered some of the Jabra eargels, but I actually prefer my white ones as they match my headphones.



Batteries last me the day. I listen to my music during breaks at work or podcasts in my car (with only one of the earpieces in my ear as both would be illegal) and charge it over night. Only time it's run out of power is if I forget to charge it.



The Bad:



These are big, like other people say. I've even had a couple of people comment that they are rather large, but once they find out that they are stereo Bluetooth headsets, they are much more impressed by the size.



There's a little rubber "stopper" attached to the middle of the cable so that you can arrange the length how you like, but I find that it kind of moves around and I just leave it hanging at the full length.



There are two rocker-dials on the left earpiece that handles all of the features of the NC1 and compared to other Bluetooth headsets I've used, they are pretty easy to learn and understand. My only complaint is the rocker-dial that is supposed to control the "next track" or "previous track" doesn't seem to work with the iPhone. Doing some research it is because the iPhone doesn't support AVRCP so that's a problem with the iPhone. Also, the iPhone doesn't support streaming audio via Bluetooth, so sadly I can't listen to Pandora when using these. It encourages me to spend the few dollars to purchase the songs I enjoy listening to, which I suppose isn't the end of the world.



My Opinion



If you are the type of person who doesn't mind having this hanging from their neck with a blue flashing light on the front, then I highly recommend these. It's pretty good geek cred, especially if you're at a tradeshow or if you're in the tech industry like I am. I haven't had the mic difficulties other people had and use these daily for my music and cell calls for about 2 months now.

I bought this about a month ago, and it worked fine the first time I used it (really, only the first time). The sound was decent, mic didn't seem to have a problem picking up my voice, etc. However, the sound disappeared from the left earpiece shortly thereafter. I noticed that if I applied pressure onto the earpiece (as if crushing it), the sound would work (though it cuts in and out). Not overly pleased about it, so I emailed their customer service today to see what they have to say about this. Will post a follow-up if/when I hear back.

I'm not sure why these get such a bad rap. I got mine recently and they're great! My only complaints are:

Size. They are a bit large, but the bluetooth receivers have to go somewhere...

Fit. I had to play around with the silicone covers for a while, and eventually use a pair of the silicone gels with the foam pads stretched over them in order to get them to fit comfortably. I'm considering the Jabra gels in the near future.

Color. The site I ordered from only had white and they stand out a bit.



They paired easily with my G1, and I was able to hear music, podcasts, and calls beautifully and wirelessly. In fact, I think my phone has officially replaced my iPod thanks to this headset. I can now listen to the same things I used to have on the iPod, switch to the phone when a call comes in, and then go right back to listening. It's amazing!



For the people who said the mic was weak, remember that you are not supposed to use this as a headset with both phones in your ears. When using this as a headset, take the left one out and let it dangle. The mic is on the left section, and this will put it into the correct position. I haven't had a single person complain about the sound so far.



Admittedly, I do still carry around a second headset for times when I want to make calls but don't want quite as much bulk. But if I hadn't already owned a Jawbone 2 when I bought this, I would probably just use the Lubix all the time.



I strongly recommend trying these out, especially now that the prices are dropping.

The UBHS-NC1 pairs flawlessly with my phone and my iPod touch 2G. Unfortunately, that's about the extent of its qualities. The earbuds are poorly designed and no matter what I do they fall off within a few seconds. The microphone is so bad that the phone headset feature is unusable. A complete waste of money.

I bought this product before it was available here on another website. If you use it with just your bluetooth-enabled phone, I'm sure this will work fine for you. However, if you use the 3.5mm cable included, you cannot use the bluetooth. When you connect the cable, you cannot listen to the music unless you turn the bluetooth portion off. If you have the bluetooth turned on, you cannot listen to the music. It was a waste of my money. The headphones sounded great, but I could have bought a pair of wired headphones just as good for half the price. Why would I purchase bluetooth headphones if I couldn't use the bluetooth feature?

This worked fine the first 2 times I used them but they just stopped working within the first week. Luckily I could send them back for a refund. They were really cheap feeling, the piece that goes over your ear is really thin plastic and they aren't very comfortable to wear for any extended amount of time. Also, the instruction book that came with it was hard to understand due to misspellings and errors. Definitely would not recommend these.

This is actually my first bluetooth stereo headset. I really didn't expected to produce a very good sound quality but I purchased it to be use for Skype. Sound quality is ok if you'll only use it for communication and not really for music enjoyment. The only controls that I was able to use were the volume controls. The other controls like forward and back really has no function for my software (i.e. window's media player, VLC and winamp). The earpiece could be bothersome at times because it's too big and the cable connecting the two earpieces could also be annoying at times. Volume is good. Not too loud nor too soft. Just keep in mind that I'm using mine indoors. The ear clip is a problem. Since it's hard, it has a tendency to hurt the ears. Distance...hmm... not too good. While in the house (with walls and doors), I can get as far as 15 feet then everything I hear was being cut off. The battery life only lasted 2.5hrs of continued use for may part. Bottom-line, if your looking for a bluetooth stereo headset for chatting and wireless headphones like watching TV, then this is a good deal considering the price. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU'LL USE FOR MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, THEN LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE. ;D

The quality of sound for the Sony DRBT160 headset was mediocre. It was not noticably better at over $100 than the $20 headset I already owned. The Sony DRBT was comfortable enough, but again, not terrific. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the headset DIED after juse a couple months use. It no longer held a charge even though the indicator light is green, indicating it's "charged."

I purchased a set of these with the IPod adapter included. Standard Shipping was quick and fast. The headphones themselves feel as if they are very fragile due to their flexibility which is good for comfort, but bad if you don't handle them carefully. They are very comfortable and come with S,M,L ear buds which is very nice. They are very lightweight and you can hardly feel them there, even though they look like something you would see in Star Trek. I wish Sony had used a mini-USB to charge the unit instead of a 3v plug...why you might ask? Well I could have used any type of Motorola car charger to always keep the unit ready AND charged on the go. That being said, they do have pretty good battery life. The Sony bluetooth adapter works flawless and is already paired for your IPod. All you have to do is charge the headphones before cranking them up. The controls are at the back of the right ear unit where you can change the songs and volume with a small toggle. Volume is controlled on the headphones, so no matter how high or low you turn the volume up on the IPod, it will not work. I had them up and running within 20 seconds after popping the BT adapter in and turning them on. The adapter runs off your IPod power, so make sure the IPod is charged. It also works with 4th gen IPods and IPhone 2G(first gen). Just a caveat, when you plug into the IPhone, it will say the accessory is not compatible and try to take you to airplane mode. It will work, but as for using it as a headset to take calls, it will not!!! I tried everything and it won't accept. Also, IPhone is not setup to work with ANY BT headphones(to play music) without the A2DP adapter(Motorola or Sony, etc). That being said, I thought the sound quality was good, but there was NO BASS...worse than a base model factory car stereo. This unit could easily have gotten a five star rating with better sound. You might be better off buying the larger Sony headphone BT21IK, or BT21G(same model just one with the adapter and one without). The IPhone issue is frustrating, but definitely not Sony or any other manufacters fault...we have APPLE to thank for that! I may try the Moto Rokr S9-HD, as it had good reviews with exception to the battery replacement...they will work with the Sony BT adapter if you were wondering. In the Sony unit, the battery can be replaced by the way, so with proper care, they could last a LONGGGGGGG time. Overall was satisfied, just bummed about my missing BASS!!! Everything else was very crisp which is why I listed my title as "Best Bluetooth Headphones." Where else can you find quality like this with no wires???



UPDATE: I have had the chance to work out with these at the gym. I mainly weightlift and found that sometimes the earbuds may slip out of your ears. Not a biggy, but just a little annoying when you have to push it back in. My regular bluetooth headset got lost that I use for my PS3. I figured I would see if these headphones could be found by the PS3......and it DID!! Much to my surprise, the PS3 found it after I hit "register new device" then hit the pairing button. I got a little bit of feedback from the microphone, but with a few minor adjustments I could hear in stereo and talk loud and clear. This headset is starting to prove itself and might knotch another star if I can find other great uses! By the way, the sound improves the further you push these into your ear canals, so use the set of ear buds that are large enough to fit snug, not just laying there.

I tried the jaybird first but they were expensive and had some quality control issues 1 wouldn't charge and the other had sync issues with my phone. The sony's on the other hand sync great between my ipod, macbook pro, and cell phone. I use the headphones at the gym, in the house, and when I ride the motorcycle (the whole unit fits under my full face helmet). The range is not bad, if you have a direct line of site, like at the gym, it could go about 25ft without cutting out. Sometimes when placed in a pants pocket you may get some cutout. Also, the buds sound great when pushed all the way in your ears but as you start physical activity they tend to pull out slightly (for me the right side slides out more than the left) and that is with the largest buds that came in the package. The battery life is good and all in all the headphones are not bad, they just didn't "WOW" me the way a set of $115+ set of headphones should.

Sony puts out great products but the bad part about Sony is that they insist on using unnecessary proprietary connections and accessories (memory stick). That being said this product uses the industry standard bluetooth. I tried not to buy from Sony but this product is far superior to its competitors such as the Motorola S9 HD, which is not bad but not as comfortable, and the Jaybird, which is more expensive and I was not able to get it to fit into my ears at all.

This great little device is perfect for anyone with a stereo-capable Bluetooth phone. Out of the box and after a charge, it synced up very easily with my Samsung a900 "Blade" cellphone. I am able to listen to my iPod by connecting the audio plug directly into the iPod and when a call comes in, the sound is muted (though it would be more ideal if it could pause the music) and when I am finished with the call, the sound returns.



The main benefit for me is that with the stereo earbuds, the sound of the person to whom you're speaking is directly in the center of your head. I never have to say "WHAT?" or "Sorry, I didn't catch that". Of course, you cannot legally use both earbuds at the same time while driving, one earbud does function quite well. The other main benefit of this device is the longevity of the battery. I talk a LOT on the phone and I have rarely had this phone die out on me. I have been able to talk for hours on end, though I do charge it up fairly regularly at night while I sleep. It comes with a charger with a mini-usb connector that slides into a hideaway slot in the side of the unit.



The main disadvantages of this unit are somewhat important. The device is well made and has rubberized sides which are handy. However, the unit has a clip on the backside which is fairly close to useless. It can be attached to your clothing, but it is not very secure. The best bet is to use a small lanyard with a clip attached to the end to more properly secure the unit on your person. This lanyard and clip, however, are not included. (I use a clip that came with my pedometer!) Also negatively, when not in use, the earbuds do dangle about...one can replace the earbuds with earbuds of your choice, but it would be nice to have a way to wrangle those long cords (I use a small white twist tie) :).



Another small partial negative is that the mic is on the oval unit itself...There is a pinhole in the rubberized side surface that houses the mic as the dangling device is on your chest, proper placement is essential for people to hear you well, though even with a lot of ambient noise, the mic does a remarkable job of picking up your voice...I've tested it standing in front of a fan and the other person said the fan was loud but that they could still hear me! So it is a partial negative/partial positive.



One major issue is the big button visible on the center of the oval unit itself. You use this button to answer calls and hold it longer for call waiting and so forth, however if you are in a call and you inadvertently *BUMP* this button (it's an easy click) then you disconnect from the call immediately. So be careful when using this device and try hard not to hit that button when you don't need to!



And finally, at least with my Samsung a900, the bluetooth is erratic. It could easily be my phone (I have just had 2 firmware updates performed on it) but my phone will occasionally just lose the connection to the device and I have to restart my phone. I might think this was just my phone, and it possibly is, but my jawbone bluetooth headset does not have this problem. So I am not sure.



All in all, this is a great product that would be greater with some sort of cable wrangler attachment and a shield for the button...I'd have given this product a 5. Still it's a great bluetooth headset, I only wish I could use the stereo capabilities of the headset when listening to music on my Samsung a900...THAT requires an actual cabled audio connection :( Ah well, we can't have it all...yet!

I've gone through my second Jabra BT325 in less than 6 weeks. When they work, they work pretty well. But I think that I am going to give up on these and try to find something else.



My goal was to find something that I could use my own headphones while running/cycling, and use them to hear a call come in from my cell phone and answer the call without stopping to touch my MP3 player and cell phone. I thought the Jabra BT325 was the perfect solution. The concept is a good one. The device is no bigger than your car's keyless remote and clips onto a shirt or jacket. Pairing with my phone took less than a minute. Sound quality was very good when listening to my MP3 player. When a call comes in, the music fades and I can tap the device to receive the call. Works great when running or on the bike. The built-in microphone could be better with blocking out wind noise but it does a decent job. The real problem has been with the unit powering on and holding a charge. Both units that I've received have decided to stop responding after one or a couple charges. I've tried pushing/holding every button to somehow reset it but nothing has worked. Amazon has decided to refund my purchase but I'm disappointed that this product did not live up to its potential.

the concept is great:



if you have an mp3 player of any sort (iPod or other), you have to have a headphone cord running from the player to your head anyway. why not just add a bluetooth headset in the middle of the line and multi-purpose the earphones already in your ears. instantly add stereo to your phone calls and get decent integration with your audio player (the BT325s will mute your player during a call, though it won't pause it, then automatically switches back to the audio when a call ends).



advantages over bluetooth earphones: you still get good audio fidelity, you only use the headset batteries when you are on a call, you don't have to have a bluetooth adapter for your mp3 player, just use the standard audio out. the Jabra BT620s, for example, requires an adapter for use with an iPod; the iPod won't fit in most standard protective cases with the adapter attached.



advantages over just using regular headphones for music and a regular bluetooth headset: you don't have to take the headphones off to take a call with the bluetooth headset.



so again, great concept. moving on to execution in the BT325s. after three months of use:



1. horrible microphone. even when i hold it right in front of my mouth, i get reports of sounding muffled, cutting in and out, etc. please improve the microphone.



2. only one microphone. depending on how you are wearing it, the microphone ends up on the underside, away from your voice, covered in clothing, etc. there ought to be two microphones, on opposite sides.



3. absolutely worthless clip. the engineers of this product obviously didn't test drive it. due to the microphone placement and clip design, the only way to wear it is with a button-front or zip-front shirt/jacket. to run the cord inside your shirt/jacket, you have to have it untucked, the cord is too short otherwise. the clip bends easily and gets loose, then it can't be bent back. it doesn't rotate, so you can't optimize placement. need a durable, spring-loaded clamp-type clip with rotation. the rotation mechanism should have notches preventing inadvertent rotation once it has been set.



4. better integration. there really should be a way to not just mute, but pause the mp3 player when a call is placed or received. but this is just gravy. if 1-3 were resolved, i would use this and recommend to everybody i know. as it is, it is going on the shelf.



sad to say, i have to call this a waste of money. i really, really wanted it to work.

Works just fine with my iPod and cell phone via bluetooth. It would have been better to integratethe microphone in the earphone cables so that the controller can be attached to your belt. It's awkward to attach the integrated mic and controller anywhere on your body where the mic is effective.

Overall, you simply can't find a wireless bluetooth headset in this price range that is any better. Or, if you can, kudos to you, and bummer for me!



I like bullet points, so here's some pros/cons:



Pros

- Very reasonable price for bluetooth headset

- Sound is pretty good

- Dongle works for devices without bluetooth (the dongle is great for plugging into devices like an xbox or a laptop, but is not necessary for use with your phone)



Cons

- Mic isn't the best out there - people sometimes have trouble hearing me

- Charging two devices separately is a PITA!

- (Important!!) - While the headset looks like it would work great for the gym or running, it's not. Once I had a good sweat going, the speakers fizzed out on me. Worked again once dried out, but I won't be trying that again.



Looking forward to the waterproof, detachable dongle, better mic version :-)

it works like a $130 blue tooth head set AMAZING for music few peoblms

one you are going want to tape the dongle right out of the box the wire likes to come apart and give crappy sound

two it seems people have trouble hearing me when its paried with my phone, helio ocean 2, but when i call from my phone and litsten on a nother there is no problem, ill contact iluv about this.

only charger for two things and usb chager just wont work you can get a "replacment" one form i luv but you'll have to pay for it.



on the plus side these things will take a beating my gf accendently streatched the head phones way out, shew found them under my bed, and they returned back to there ouringal shape.

they are really light the battery life works fine for me charge it every night and works every day. controls are easy to use, if you rare right handed, and i love the call button on the other side of the head set almost any one can figure most of it out with out reading the instructions, except parring.

despite the few problems i still rated it high cuz i thought of the dongle as an extra not part of the order.

This product is easy to use and fits perfectly on my noggin. I haven't used the cell phone option so I can't comment on that.



Pros:

The sound is great and they fit snug.

I thought the square things would bug me or look funny but they don't.

The buttons are real easy to use.

They are comfortable to wear even on long runs.



Cons:

I wish that they could be folded up for storage.

You have to charge both the Headphones and the Dongle.

There is no way of telling how much of a charge is left; a battery indicator would be nice.



The con's are minor and the benefit of these things is awesome I would definitely recommend them to anybody
