 "Connection didn't work" 2009-08-16

Returned these headset. After a few attemps, I returned it because it didn't work for what I wanted to use it for which was to run and walk.

"Sound quality is great. Problem if you wear then running though" 2009-08-13

Sound quality is great. Controls your usb device. If you use it with your phone it will also allow you to make calls.

Only problem is if you run with them. Sweat will kill them. I am in the process of returning the HD-S9 right now.

I had the original model and returned them twice for the same problem.

 "Great headphones......when they work." 2009-08-04
By Math Guy (Cleveland, OH)
Pros:

Nice and light, don't move around much when running, good sound quality (I'm no audiophile, but these sounded nice). I love being able to control volume and skip tracks while I'm running.

Cons:

I put my phone in an armband when I run. Almost every time I turned my head so the back of the headphones (the fatter part that goes behind your head) was facing away from the phone, the music cut out. Not cool.

I've had two sets of these headphones. The buttons on the first pair went haywire after about 4 weeks. I sent them in and got a replacement pair from Amazon(brand new) and the skip forward button just created static every time I hit it....and didn't even skip to the next song. The play/pause button increased the volume rather than playing/pausing the music. This was the first time I'd even put the headphones on my head. I tried connecting the headphones to two different devices and the same problems existed.

The idea behind these headphones are great, but their reliability is HORRIBLE. If they're not meant to be used while working out (because of sweat maybe?) then Motorola should have made that very explicit. Although, my second pair didn't work and I had never used them, so who knows. You can do better Motorola. Despite my better judgment, I decided to stick with Motorola and ordered the S305 headphones from Amazon. We'll see how that goes....

"The best so far....but a long way from the best...." 2009-07-26

The Motorola S9-HD has a fair bit of promise. The sound quality is the best that I have found from any bluetooth headset that I have tested. The battery life seems comparable to normal bluetooth headsets. Lastly the microphone function works well.

From a practical stand point I was able to pair the device with both my iphone and my Mac and both work very well. The sound quality; while not as good as wired headphones; is very acceptable for daily use.

On the negative side i find that after several hours of use the earphone physically hurt to take on and off. I presume this is based on the design and all the weight handing off my ears. I hope that with some additional usage that it will not pinch as much.

I also noticed that when i vigorously walk that the earphones seem to cut out occasionally. This is exceptionally annoying.

Lastly, as pointed out by others the unit is neither waterproof nor does it have a replaceable battery. This is going to made the longevity of the product very questionable.

This entire product category is begging for a strong leader to come in and clean up on the opportunity of providing high quality earphones that take advantage of the bluetooth standard. If you read through the reviews for this product (and other similar products) you will see that there is still much room for improvement. If you cant wait for a more developed product; I would recommend this unit as an interim purchase.
