 "Not a huge fan" 2009-08-20
By Ralph (South Florida)
I ordered this phone because I have used and enjoyed Plantronics products in the past. I am not a fan of this one. If you want a hands-free phone that you can roam around your house on, this one will do the job. However I use it for a home business, in which I make a high volume of calls, and I find it a little user UNfriendly.

- The handset is not comfortable to hold or talk, but I think that is because it was made mainly as a hands-free phone.

- The buttons are too small for someone who dials a lot.

- The ear piece is comfortable until you need to press it 20+ times a day to initiate and answer calls, then it starts to get a little irritating.

- The [small] buttons illuminate in a color that makes them a little harder to read when you are looking for letters to enter a name.

The clarity on both sides of the conversation is great on the earpiece and speakerphone and I don't have any problem with seating it in the base, which I read was a problem before I bought it. It also holds a chage well. I use it all morning...put it on the charger for lunch...and then use it all afternoon. I also like that I can use the same headset for my cell phone as well. It has some difficulty switching between phones sometimes, but I am not sure if the problem lies with this phone or my cell. It also seems to have some cool VoIP features that I don't use.

All in all it is a little pricey, but does the job with some minor inconveniences that will hopefully be corrected in the next model.

"Pleased for what I wanted out of it" 2009-08-12
By T. Novak (Cleveland, OH)
I've had my Calisto for a few weeks now and it does what I needed it to do. I have a home based business and like many of the other reviewers spend a good part of my day on the phone and in front of a computer. I've been using corded headset phones and the one drawback was always mobility. This solved it. I haven't used the outlook sync so I can't comment on that but here is the setup I use. I've tried Skyp and Vonage and right now I am using a Magicjack for my main number. I switched to Magicjack for my main number simply because the call quality was better than the others and extremely inexpensive. Magicjack provides a softpad so I use that and its contact list for most of my calls. So using the Calisto earpiece all I have to do is touch the on button and then select or input a phone number from the magicjack softpad. (this eliminates using the calisto handset which does have annoying and small buttons). By using this setup the handset always stays in the base so you don't need to worry about it going dead, and so far the earpiece has been able to stay charged throughout my working day. The call quality using the earpiece is very good but it seems like if I use the handset you do get some fuzz and static so go figure.

I figured I paid 209.00 bucks to have mobility and to me that was worth it. I think the handset is pretty crappy with the keys and display and you would think from a technological/ergonomic standpoint they could have done a much better job. But besides that it worked right out of the box and I haven't had to do anything to reset the earpiece to the handset. My only other beef, as mentioned by a few others is the earpiece itself. I wear glasses and when you have the headset on all day it does get a little uncomfortable around and inside the ears so I have to switch ears about every four hours or so. If they came out with a normal headset style bluetooth setup I'd buy one of those immediately.

"Take it or leave it" 2009-08-02
By Cav (Pennsylvania)
My main purpose for buying this phone was to be cord free. That much was accomplished. You get good range away from your base as long as you have the handset with you. (I'm talking handset and wearing the headset.) But if you move around with out the handset, and wearing the headset, the range is only a few feet. You can hear but its static for the most part. The buttons are small. My fingers are small enough so this isn't really a problem. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would. My main purpose for buying the phone was solved.

"Returned because of endless quirks." 2009-07-21
By Moonbeam (Santa Fe, NM)
I enjoyed using the phone because it was light convienient easy to use and good range. Can talk over skype in a 300 foot range and have call waiting for incoming internet or landline calls. I think it's probably the only thing of its kind. I returned it twice for replacement for quirks small and large ... from voicemail icon not working, to random ringing, to creating humm in the entire phone system even when it was hung up, to complete failure to work. Finally in spite of really liking the phone I decided to return it to Amazon because I decided that the chances of it lasting much past the warranty period was small, and for [...] that seemed like too high a yearly cost. Although I would prefer to have the VOIP and bluetooth features I am hoping that the otherwise similar Plantronics C14 will be more reliable.

 "Short Circuit Nightmare" 2009-07-21
By Michael J. Drees
I purchased this phone 13 months ago - worked fine after we first bought it but soon after the warranty expired started experiencing bizarre behavior. Phone would randomly ring during the day and night even though a call wasn't coming in. Would also start ringing after placing back on charger. Sound quality is also poor when using the handset. Out of frustration to stop it from ringing (3:30 AM) - I finally put it to rest for good! I still have nightmares of the "ring".
